    If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join our Fleet team at our Traincare Facility at our Mahynlleth Depot Depot.

    You will be pivotal in helping us to achieve our high standards of Train Maintenance and fault diagnosis while sticking to strict safety procedures and following VMI’s. This in turn will ensure our targets are not only consistently met, but improved on, which is a key focus for our organisation.

    You will hold a recognised apprenticeship with a minimum of NVQ Level 3; you will be a team player, have good knowledge of covering Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Electrical systems and possess an innovative approach to problem solving.  You will have strong communications skills, a “can do” attitude and be able to demonstrate flexible approach to your work.

    The position covers a variety of shifts, which includes nights, weekends and Bank Holidays so applicants must be flexible.

    We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Technician at our Train Care Facility in our Holyhead depot.

    What your role will look like:

    Shunting Duties

    You will ensure the safe control of movement of our trains on the running lines within the depot. You will be involved with planning movements and then control movement our trains to their required positions within the depot. 

    Assistant Technician Duties

    You will work alongside the Team Leaders and Technicians assisting as required with various planned and unplanned Maintenance tasks, this role is pivotal in helping us to achieve our high standards of Train Maintenance and fault diagnosis. This in turn will ensure our targets are not only consistently met but improved.

    Additionally, you will carry out Depot cleaning as and when required, assisting in ensuring the Depot is safe, clean and tidy at all times and perform the occasional maintenance of the track infrastructure within the depot. Additional duties will include shunting duties at other locations.

    The skills you’ll need:

    The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate high levels of concentration, be a strong team player, be able to use own initiative whilst adhering to our strict rules procedures and be committed to working towards the continual improvement of the depot.

    You will be a flexible, have good knowledge of covering mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic & electrical systems, possess a “can do” attitude and an innovative approach to problem solving.

    What else you’ll need to know:

    Working a 35-hour week, you will cover a variety of shift patters including days, nights, weekends & Bank Holidays, so flexibility is essential.

    With excellent IT skills, you will be highly competent in report writing, with the ability to provide detailed and meaningful commentary.
