    We have an exciting opportunity for a Driver Performance Manager to work as part of a team of senior managers responsible for delivering excellent driver performance across the Wales and Border Network.


    The role is based in Cardiff and is responsible for leading a team of ten Driver Team Managers based at Carmarthen and Cardiff Depots, covering the South Wales Main Line routes. The role is business critical and between the 10 managers there are approximately 210 drivers.


    This role is a key leadership position. You will have responsibility ensuring the provisions of sufficient resource to deliver the train plan, achievement of challenging targets and maintaining the competence of all the drivers under your area of control.


    This is a great time to join the team as we go through transformation of our service following our move to Transport for Wales Rail Services. It is an ambitious and challenging programme involving the introduction of new traction, the recruitment and training of additional resources, and is a great opportunity for someone who wants to drive change with strong leadership and vision.


    You need to be a great leader and coach, who puts safety and people at the heart of what you do. You need to be an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to influence at all levels. Experience in leading people is essential in this role. 


    Being flexible, sometimes working unsociable hours, and able to travel extensively across the network spending time away from home is also essential in this role.

This will require you to shape our approach to workforce planning, to employee relations, to the attraction and development of our senior leaders, and the overall delivery of a strategic and operational support service to line managers across our business.
