Our new Head of HR will play a key role in shaping our programme of transformational change, so building strong and positive working relationships with our trade unions will be pivotal to success in the role. Some of our initial challenges include shaping our systems and data capabilities to ensure our services are value adding. We are also building our brand and creating talent pipelines for the future, so implementing a recruitment strategy that ensures we are an employer of choice is a priority.

  • Control Centre Manager

    We have an exciting opportunity for two Control Centre Manager’s to join us; you will take responsibility for and manage the day to day operations of our busy Control Centre and the company’s train operations.

    Customers are key to what we do therefore, you will manage, lead and develop your team to continuously deliver a high-quality customer experience, whilst meeting operational safety and performance standards. You will work to ensure a real time delivery of the timetable, through use of the processes for incident management, service recovery, contingency planning and information.

    You will need to be an excellent communicator as you will be responsible for developing and maintaining key working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders such as Network Rail, as well as being expected to represent the organisation at rail industry groups.

    You will need a solid understanding of railway geography and operating and safety procedures, along with good knowledge of rules and regulations, fleet route availability, traincrew conditions of service and diesel multiple unit characteristics and instructions.

This role will provide strategic and operational guidance for the development of strategy, policy and practice in relation to equality, diversity and human rights legislation to customers.

    We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about accessibility and inclusion. The ideal candidate will have experience of nurturing key relationships, maintain networks and the ability to communicate complex matters and difficult situations effectively.

    Role Requirements:

    • Translate equality legislation into practice to ensure the organisation meets statutory requirements
    • Interpret national guidance and provide information, support and advice on our responsibilities under equalities legislation as defined by the Equality Act 2010 
    • Write, implement and review equality policies. Present reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders and raise the profile of accessible travel within the business
    • Ensure that responsibilities in relation to equality, diversity and human rights legislation are embedded in planning, commissioning and delivery of services
    • Manage risk and issues tracking mechanism and its proactive resolution and escalation processes
    • Identify new processes and procedures that will help improve our service accessibility
    • Persuade and influence key areas of the business to help deliver consistently high levels of service to all customers

This is an exciting opportunity to lead change, engage with multiple stakeholders and deliver transformation.

    You will be part of Transport for Wales, joining us on the exciting journey to deliver a high quality, safe, integrated, affordable and accessible transport network that the people of Wales are proud of. Based in the vibrant capital of Wales, you will be part of a dynamic team which will soon relocate to brand new, centrally located offices on Penarth Road.

    As Head of Operational Planning, you will ensure that robust planning processes are in place and communicated to relevant parties, while building lasting relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You will work closely with suppliers, stakeholders and in partnership with Network Rail to ensure robust strategic planning takes place and past experiences are learnt from.

    The role of train planning & diagramming specialist will involve working as part of a team responsible for delivering the amended weekly timetable bid, rolling stock and traincrew diagrams to prepare robust, effective and customer friendly plans.

    This will involve liaising with Network Rail and other train / freight operators in preparation of timetable bids in line with the requirements of industry regulations and timescales, and to meet business objectives (including commercial, operational and performance criteria).

    Working against strict deadlines, the successful candidate will produce comprehensive rolling stock (vehicle) diagrams for each week to meet amended timetable specifications and fleet maintenance requirements, and prepare traincrew diagrams that are compliant, and deliver a train service that will meet the franchise performance targets in a timely manner.
