We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional person to work as a Route Controller within our Control Centre based at the Wales Rail Operations Centre just west of Cardiff Central.
The role of the Route Controller helps to ensure the train service meets its high standards, using sound operational knowledge of timetables and the ATW network, through real-time monitoring, management and manipulation of our train fleet within their diagrams - however, this is only one part of a very varied role!
This role also requires hard work to ensure our trains arrive at the correct locations to receive maintenance and minimise disruption and delays to our customers. This is achieved using excellent problem solving skills and effectively communicating with other departments such as Fleet, Stations, Train Planning and Traincrew Resources, amongst others where required.
The ideal candidate for this role must have excellent negotiation skills, be able to draw on sound judgement, work under pressure and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service, always striving to connect our customers to what is important to them!
The ideal candidate will also be a confident IT user, with the ability to use all Microsoft office programmes and learn new systems. They will also be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work well with both internal and external customers and support the Control Management Team whilst remaining professional at all times.
To fulfil this role, there will be a requirement to work a variable shift pattern including early mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled mobile technician to join our Fleet Maintenance and incident response team in Carmarthen. Although based in Carmarthen, you will be required to cover a wide area from between Milford have and as far east as Bridgend.
Transport for Wales is dedicated to the successful and safe delivery of its franchise commitments and to the achievement of its business plan to become the ‘Best in Class’ Train Operator. This post shall be pivotal in achieving the desired standards of Unit maintenance and defect rectification.
Liaising with TFW & maintenance control/resource control, you will be required to attend TFW sets across the west of our network to fault find and rectify any issues with the fleet. You will also be required to carry out maintenance of Diesel multiple units, rolling stock & Locomotives, to recognised VMI (Vehicle Maintenance Instructions).
You will be an active communicator and team player, with an innovative approach to problem solving. It is also essential that you have a recognised Engineering apprenticeship. You must have an excellent working knowledge which covers Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Electrical systems.
As this is a mobile technician role, it is essential that you hold a valid UK Drivers licence.
The successful candidates must be flexible as this role will require you to work a variety of shifts, including day and night shifts.
